TGIF: We Can All Make a Difference
Can one person make a difference? Have you ever told yourself, “No point in doing this - I am just one person”?
We have all had that moment where we thought we should do something, but felt it would be futile. This week was spectacular in refuting this popular theory. With the widespread embrace of social media, one person can become thousands in seconds - warrant “Pink Shirt Wednesday” - a day to promote anti bullying. This became an overnight institution - starting with one person’s idea.
Along with this week’s Pink Shirt Wednesday, came the announcement by Mountain Equipment Co-op that they would bow to pressure from their members to distance itself from Vista Outdoors - the outdoors sports and recreation company which also manufactures gun products including assault style rifles. Mountain Equipment Co-op will quit selling 5 popular brands owned by Vista as a result of a 40,000 signature petition, started online by one concerned woman. Also - same day, Walmart & Dick’s Sporting Good in USA responded to their customers and to ok unprecedented steps to restrict gun sales - all in the face of a US government positively influenced by the gun lobby. The power of individuals!
This is democracy in action and an encouragement to us all to take action when we feel called, because truly, we can all make a difference.
And that is our mission in life, and in business - to make a difference in people’s lives. We have a unique opportunity in the real estate business, and rise to the challenge to make this a positive experience where we truly have you covered. Take heart in this week’s events and know that we shall continue that tradition of trust and caring, and to keep you covered.
